Lawyers of the arrested BNP`s Commerce Secretary Salauddin Ahmed on Thursday evening claimed that Detective Branch (DB) of the DMP arrested Salauddin disobeying the High Court`s instructions.
His lawyers claimed that the High Court has given oral instructions that police cannot arrest or harass BNP central leader Salauddin Ahmed in the cases filed with Jatrabari police station in connection with the unauthorised assembly, attack on police and vandalism of vehicles.
DB police arrested Salauddin from Jatrabari (Hanif Flyover) on his way home after appearing in court at 1:30 pm on Thursday.
Lawyers of Salahuddin including Zahirul Islam Sumon went to DMP headquarters in the evening to inform the DMP commissioner about the verbal instructions of the High Court`s not to arrest or harass him.
After coming out from the DMP headquarters at around 8:00 pm, Salahuddin`s lawyer Zahirul Islam Sumon told reporters that Salauddin Ahmed, former member of parliament (MP) of BNP of Jatrabari 5 constituency, has been brought to the DB office.
Lawyers panel led by senior advocate Mohammad Ali and Qaiser Kamal filed a bail plea in the High Court in the four cases against him. At this time, the court detects whether the defendants are present in the court. Later, the day of order in this regard was fixed on Sunday (August 6).
Lawyer Suman also said that at this time the court gave verbal instructions asking to submit the `lawyer certificate`. It is asked to submit the directions so that the accused are not arrested or harassed. But even after showing the lawyer`s certificate, he was brought to the DB office.
About coming to the DMP commissioner`s office, he said: "We have come to meet the commissioner to show the lawyer certificate. Besides, the court`s oral instructions have been informed. Our application was received at the DMP Commissioner`s office and we were kept sitting for an hour and no decision was given. But the DMP gave us a receipt copy," he said.
If the court is closed for the next two days, Suman said: "The court will be closed for the next two days. We have nothing to do before Sunday."
